Our Mahi
TMLT Forestry
The original forestry lease was with Fletcher Timber company and commenced on 1 July 1976 with a term of 99 years (expiry 2075). In 2016, TMLT negotiated the surrender of the lease with then lease holder Tenon and appointed New Zealand Forest Managers to carry out the day to day management of the forestry.
"Poipoia te kakano kia puawai" "Nurture the seed and it will blossom"
We now have the ability to use the forestry asset as we see fit. This includes planting native trees and unplanted areas in the forest.
TMLT Farm Lease
TMLT have 206 hectares of grazing farm land which was leased to Opepe Farm Trust in 2018. TMLT made the decision to lease the grazing land to Opepe because of the shared values and shared connection to whānau.
“TO SUPPORT AND SUSTAIN THE MANA AND WELLBEING OF THE LANDS, MARAE AND PEOPLE OF OPEPE FARM TRUST. IT WILL ACHIEVE THIS BY MANAGING AND GROWING SUSTAINABLE ENTITIES THAT WILL, IN TURN, BUILD OPEPE ASSETS AND PROVIDE SUSTENANCE TO NGĀ URI.”— OPEPE FARM TRUST MISSION STATEMEN
